Inside Out Podcast - A Conversation with Dr. Casper on Covid-19

"We're seeing approximately 250 deaths a day in our country from COVID, and those deaths are about 99% preventable. If those people were vaccinated almost all of them would have lived."

Welcome to the Inside Out podcast with Bridgercare, where we give you bite sized content on sexual & reproductive care and lots of other topics. In this episode, Juliana (Summer 2021 intern) has a conversation about what's going on with Dr. Melissa Casper (Bridgercare's OB-GYN and Medical Director).

A quick update to the podcast - since recording, we are now offering free Covid-19 vaccines here at Bridgercare! And when you get your first shot here, you can pick out either a $20 gift card to the Bozeman Co-op or a Bridgercare hat (while supplies last!). We're also starting to see college campuses around the U.S making a Covid-19 vaccine mandatory to attend school and social events. France and Italy will soon require that people show proof of vaccination to eat at a restaurant, attend a movie or participate at other community activities. Is the U.S. next? Don’t get left at home alone! Come get your shot at Bridgercare!

  1. The vaccines are WORKING! - As far as COVID goes, there's been a lot of good news this spring and summer - infections, hospitalizations and deaths due to the virus are way down. People getting vaccinated is what led to this good news!

  2. There have been a rise in different forms of the virus that are more contagious and dangerous. These variants occur when the virus is able to spread from person to person, replicate, and mutate. So, if everybody were to get vaccinated, the virus would stop spreading and stop creating variants.

  3. We are see infections rise again - and the most striking thing happening now is the vast majority of people who are hospitalized and dying from Covid right now are those who are unvaccinated. We're seeing approximately 250 deaths a day in our country from COVID, and those deaths are about 99% preventable. If those people were vaccinated almost all of them would have lived.

  4. The vaccines are all showing to be effective against the variants. They are effective at preventing hospitalizations, severe illness and death. Even if vaccinated folks are experiencing mild and asymptomatic infections, the vaccines are keeping people out of the hospital and saving lives.

  5. Experts encourage pregnant people to get vaccinated. All the experts (American College of OBGYN, Society of Maternal and Fetal Medicine) are saying that the vaccine is safe and encourage pregnant, postpartum, and lactating people to get vaccinated. Pregnant people are showing to get sicker when they get Covid than people who aren't pregnant, they're more likely to end up in the intensive care unit, they're more likely to go into preterm labor, and they may be more at risk for hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

  6. The technology in Covid vaccines isn't new - it's been studied for decades. When scientists were faced with the Covid crisis, they were able to jump on that knowledge and all they had learned over the past 30 years, and get these vaccines into production safely.

  7. We offer vaccines right here at Bridgercare!! It's free, fast (30 minutes or less) and a key step in ending this pandemic so everyone can travel, live and play safely and freely. Give us a call at 406-587-0681 to make an appointment!
