Bridgercare Funding and Income

Bridgercare is the largest independent, nonprofit reproductive and sexual healthcare clinic in Montana. We were founded in 1972 and are a 501(c)(3) organization. About 8% of our budget comes from federal and state grants. Therefore, the majority of funding comes from donations, insurance reimbursements, and visit fees. Our fees are based on income and are assessed according to your ability to pay. When you make a donation or we bill your insurance, this helps us continue to provide affordable, compassionate, and high quality care to everyone in south central Montana.

We always accept new patients, and no one is denied services due to the inability to pay. Bridgercare is happy to provide care to clients with private insurance and Medicaid coverage. You can apply for sliding fee scale discounts regardless of insurance status. Your insurance/Medicaid (if you have it) and Bridgercare’s sliding fee scale work together to make sure you are getting the most affordable care possible!

  • You can still apply for sliding fees if you have insurance! You will never pay more for using your insurance, and using both can actually reduce your out-of-pocket costs. Sliding fees are available for all patients and are based on household size and before-tax income. Our federal grant includes dependent children, partners that live with you, and spouses as part of your household. We will ask all patients for donations, regardless of fee level. Donations help Bridgercare to be here for you!

We accept cash, check, debit, money order, and credit card payments. Payment is expected at the time of service, and payment plans are available.

  • Uninsured? We are here to help patients connect with affordable options, get covered, and avoid a tax penalty. Give us a call if you’d like free information or assistance!

    Depending on your income:

Women, aged 19 to 44 may qualify for free women’s healthcare (including birth control) through Plan First.

The Montana Cancer Control Program is a program for women that may help cover the cost of annual wellness visits, colorectal screening, and mammograms for uninsured or under-insured women.

If these don’t apply to you, but you are uninsured, check out Healthcare.gov for health plan options. You may qualify for tax credits towards your premiums, or for coverage through Montana Medicaid..

  • We want to work with you to make healthcare affordable and accessible! We ask that you pay $20 per month, or the monthly amount needed to pay off your balance within a year (whichever occurs first). It's important to notify us of any change in contact information right away, even if your mail is forwarded. If we are unable to reach you about a balance or regular monthly payments are not made, collection may occur. If collection has occurred, please contact Centron at centronservices.com to make payment arrangements.

We ask that patients do not use insurance portals to make payment as they don't show sliding fee scale discounts or other account activity. We can take payment by phone, mail, or set up automatic payments to run on your card.

If you have any questions about your balance or are finding it difficult to make your monthly payments, give our billing department a call at 406-587-0681 ext 306.

  • We aren’t able to provide “Welcome to Medicare” exams or yearly wellness visits. We strongly encourage you to obtain your yearly preventive care with internal medicine or family medicine provider who may offer more expertise with the issues accompanying advancing age. Of course, we are happy to see you for any sexual health concerns. If you already have a primary care provider, we are also happy to see you for pelvic exams if you prefer to do them here.

  • We recommend that you call your insurance company’s customer service before your appointment to make sure you understand your network providers and coverage.

If you have more than one insurance plan, we must know which is primary in order to submit claims. Please bring current cards to your appointment.

    Bridgercare providers are in-network with:

    • Blue Cross Blue Shield

    • Montana Medicaid and Plan First

    • BCBS Healthy Montana Kids

    • Pacificsource

    • CIGNA/Allegiance

    • Mountain Health Co-op

    • Medicare

We also participate with First Choice Health Network, Multiplan, and Interwest networks.

Under the Affordable Care Act, many plans are required to cover birth control and preventative care (such as annual wellness exams and STI screenings) without out of pocket costs. Your plan may require that you see an in-network provider or use a pharmacy in order to access these benefits.
