Podcast: What I learned from a crash course in sex ed
In this super fun episode, interns Jade and Cecelia join us to share their biggest takeaways from the sex ed crash course they completed here at Bridgercare!!
A few important notes before you listen:
We provide comprehensive, age-appropriate sex education that supports young people’s health, safety, and well-being. In this episode, we mention that we include abstinence in our lessons. For example, for middle school students, we emphasize abstinence as the healthiest choice at this stage of development, while also offering comprehensive information. This means students learn about their bodies, boundaries, consent, relationships, and basic reproductive health in a medically accurate and inclusive way. This approach is different from abstinence-only education, which may withhold information about contraception, sexual health, and prevention.
Everyone has a different personal experience with sex education. These lessons in particular were designed for our college interns, so there are some things they may talk about that would not be in a typical sex ed lesson from Bridgercare (ex: condom relay races)!
We mention the “star method” of ranking birth control. For a more clear representation, look at the chart below!
