Provider Spotlight: Karlee Haus, FNPC

Hi, Karlee! Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I am originally from Wisconsin. I have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin, and my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UC-Denver. I worked as a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse until graduating with my masters from Georgetown University in the summer of 2015. I am passionate about community health and women’s healthcare. I love living in Bozeman with my husband, our two boys and our golden retriever.

Why did you choose to enter the medical profession?

My wonderful parents taught me by example and inspired me to have a career where I give back by helping and caring for others.

What are some common misconceptions you hear from patients?

Many patients think that birth control pills are their only option for contraception. There are so many other options out there! Also, many males think they should only be seen when something is wrong. We’d love to see you before then!

Tell me about a situation with a patient where you felt you really made a difference for them.

I often have patients who are being seen by a provider for the first time outside of their Pediatrician. I try to give them a very good first experience so they do not hesitate to seek healthcare going forward in their lives.

What are some helpful hints or practices you do in your own life to improve your physical and mental health?

I try to get outside every day and spend time with people I enjoy.

What is the most important thing Bridgercare does for patients and the community?

I am so honored to work for a clinic that goes far above and beyond checking you in and out. Bridgercare helps patients get what they need. We do this without judgment, bias or coercion and with genuine care and concern.

How do you want a patient to feel after a visit with you?

I want them to feel cared for, that they were listened to, and to have a clear understanding of the plan. It takes a lot for patients to come see us with some of their most intimate concerns – my job is to make things as comfortable as possible for them.

Who do you admire and why?

I have two older sisters who are such smart, caring and giving women. I’ve grown up admiring their strength and character.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received or your favorite quote to live by?

I truly try to live by the golden rule and to treat others the way I would want to be treated.

What are some common misconceptions you hear from patients about Bridgercare or reproductive health in general?

Many people think we are just “the STI clinic” in town. We provide a broad range of health services and can get patients seen very quickly.

What is your favorite part about working at Bridgercare?

The services we provide and our wonderful staff. Everyone works here for a reason and we are a wonderful team of caring and kind individuals.

What do you do in your free time when you aren’t working at Bridgercare?

I try to spend quality time with my family and get our little boys outside as much as possible. We moved to Montana to raise our kids hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter!

Thank you for all you do, Karlee!
