High School

In the blink of an eye, that kid is a TEEN. We consistently hear the stereotypes of teenagers: stubborn, rebellious, and hormonal... and while some of that could be true, we also know teens are seeking independence, exploring their limits, developing skills in emotional awareness and regulation, connecting with new people, searching for meaning, and becoming sexual humans. All this change can feel scary, because some of those experiences have real-life, path-altering outcomes, but these moments of exploration are also what help build identity, self-awareness, and relationship skills. To help you, we’ve put together a bunch of teen and supportive adult resources so that if, and when, your teen goes off exploring, they can do so safely!

Teens might...

  • Explore their bodies

  • Turn to the internet or peers for information about bodies, body functions, pregnancy, STIs, sex and sexual behaviors, gender identity, sexual orientation

  • Explore different types of relationship dynamics

  • Explore dating and being in relationships with people

  • Explore physical intimacy with partners
