LGBTQ+ Allies Trainings

Our educators, along with trained facilitators, teach three different LGBTQ+ Allies Trainings:

  • Education Allies, for educators

  • Healthcare Allies, for healthcare workers

  • Everyday Allies, for everyone who does not fall into one of those two categories

These trainings seek to inform, educate, and empower community members in a safe, educational environment to be better and more informed allies. These trainings can be tailored to meet each setting’s unique needs (at our Education Team’s discretion). Please reach out to Shawn Reagor, LGBTQ+ Allies Coordinator, at sreagor@bridgercare.org to discuss which training may be right for you or your team!

  • Education Allies

Our Education Allies Training provides a safe, educational environment for educators and youth-serving professionals who wish to learn more about how to support their LGBTQ+ students and colleagues. Click below to learn more about what this training entails!

  • Healthcare Allies

Healthcare Allies is for anyone working in a healthcare setting (mental and physical health) who wants to learn more about how to support their LGBTQ+ patients and colleagues in specifically a medical setting. Click below to learn more about why a Healthcare Allies Training may be right for you or your team!

  • Everyday Allies

Everyday Allies is for individuals who want to better support an LGBTQ+ friend, family member, or colleague, or just be a supportive community member! Click below to learn more about our Everyday Allies Trainings and what they can do for you and your team!

So, why do these trainings matter?

  • 1/2 of LGBTQ+ youth have heard homophobic remarks from teachers or other school staff

  • 29% of trans people have been denied healthcare by a physician

  • Supportive communities are suicide prevention

Testimonies from Previous Allies Training Attendees

  • I always thought creating a 'safe' place was a bit of a misuse of the word safe, since there is no direct danger involved. However, I now see that feeling safe is about a lot more than removing direct threats and there is so much more that affects my coworkers experience besides what is right in front of us.

-Jamie*, Everyday Allies Attendee, Bozeman, MT (Oboz Footwear)

  • "So appreciate your detail to explain the complexities of identity and acceptance, and your commitment to educate all of us. Education is key to understanding and acceptance of things we don’t know about or understand! Education builds bridges! Thanks :)"

-Bailey* Everyday Allies Training Attendee, Great Falls, MT

  • "Thanks so much for putting on the Healthcare Allies Training. It was quite meaningful. I consider myself to be open, but I realized that I was not as fluent and comfortable as I thought. I appreciate all that you are doing for our community."

-Juan*, Healthcare Allies Training Attendee, Bozeman, MT

  • "This (training) will help us to become more compassionate and inclusive physicians."

-Tuma*, Healthcare Allies Training Attendee, Bozeman, MT

  • "I felt like I gained more knowledge and understanding of how to respect people."

-Mei*, Education Allies Training Attendee, Bozeman, MT

  • "I learned about better communication techniques and ways to be a good nurse with LGBTQ+ patients"
