How YOU can get a year’s supply of birth control!

House Bill 302 is a huge win for Montanans who rely on prescription birth control. This bill requires insurance companies to provide reimbursement for up to a 12-month supply of any drug, device, or product for contraception that is prescribed and that has been approved by the U.S. food and drug administration.

If the provider recommends a specific contraception drug, device, or product, the provider's recommendation will be respected, and coverage will be provided for contraception based on medical necessity.

An insured individual can also receive less than a 12-month supply if they wish or if a health care provider specifically prescribes less than a 12-month supply.

Make sure to check if your insurance plan includes contraception coverage even if it’s a state of Montana issued plan!

This bill helps ensure that individuals have access to a 12-month supply of their preferred contraception. This is one small, but important step towards increasing access to healthcare for Montanans. If, for any reason, you are denied a year’s supply, follow these steps to ensure your right to obtain contraception!
