Welcome Dr. Melissa Casper!

Originally from Texas, I received my MD degree from the University of Texas-Houston and completed an Ob/Gyn residency at UT-Southwestern in Dallas.  After one year in private practice in Texas, my husband and I moved to Bozeman in 2001, where I continued practicing Ob/Gyn at Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital.  After taking a break from medicine from 2015-2017 in order to spend some quality time with my daughters, I joined Bridgercare as their medical director in January, 2018.  Bridgercare is an amazing place, with providers and staff deeply committed to providing the best quality reproductive health care and education possible.  It's such a joy and privilege for me to care for the people who walk through our doors, and I'm honored that they place their trust in us.  As Bridgercare's first on-site MD, I look forward to helping expand the clinic's offerings, with the introduction of gynecologic ultrasound services, LEEP procedures to treat precancerous lesions of the cervix, and genetic counseling and testing for women with cancer or with a family history that might suggest a genetic predisposition to cancer.  We can also now offer preconceptional (prepregnancy) genetic counseling and testing to assess a couple's risk of having a newborn with a genetic disorder.

Outside of work, I love to be outdoors, hiking with my family or running with my wonderful running buddies or my awesome lab mix, Buddy.  I also enjoy a good book and cooking good food.
