Workshops and Programs!

Prepping for Puberty: Making Puberty Less Awkward since the 90’s!

A collaboration between Bridgercare and the Help Center, this workshop is for youth ages 8-12 to do with their adult. Youth learn about physical, emotional & social changes of puberty. Adults discuss how to support their kids emotionally during puberty.

This is an excellent opportunity for kids ages 8-12 and their adult to learn more about the facts of puberty with fun and interactive activities that facilitate positive communication between children, adults and their community.

During the workshop participants:

  •  During the workshop youth participants learn about the physical, emotional and social changes of puberty from trained high school Peer Educators.

  • Adults focus on usable strategies to support youth emotionally during this period of transition as well as identify recommended puberty education resources.

  • Both youth and adults learn how to communicate more comfortably and effectively about puberty and have fun (no, really, there’s always plenty of laughter)!

Linking Families and Teens (LiFT)

Linking Families and Teens (LiFT) is a 6-hour program that brings high schoolers and their parents* together to share family values, strengthen family bonds, and talk about the tough stuff – healthy relationships and sexual health. The workshop is divided into three parts: Together Times (youth and adults together), youth by themselves and supportive adults by themselves.

Adults will learn to...

  • Support your teen to achieve their goals

  • Help your teen make healthy choices

  • Encourage your teen to open up to you

Teens will...

  • learn skills related to sexual health

  • have fun with peers their age

  • learn how to communicate with and be heard by your parents

*Youth can join this workshop with a parent, caregiver, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or another important adult in their life
